Friday Ripple – January Reloaded

The month of January has proven to be historical and memorable on the Friday Ripple. We have explored more of Africa’s culture through music.

We sampled some traditional Mandingo music from Salif Keita’s new album, Tale. With production contributions from Philipe Cohen Solal the project includes notable songs like the album track title Tale and C’est Bon featuring British rapper, Roots Manuva.

Football is the most followed sports in Africa and it is inseparable from its culture. Countries come to an almost stand still when their respective teams face off in crucial matches. The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is the biggest football tournament that brings together the best African countries to battle and earn the exclusive bragging rights of champions of Africa.

All eyes fall on South Africa from the 19th of January, 2013 as they host the prestigious 29th Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).
