Keith Jones is very much part of the legacy of the Friday Ripple Show. A regular guest, this time around the “Punk in Africa” documentary was specially invited for the “Bongo Flava” themed show.

Also with us was Billy Selekane, internationally acclaimed motivational and inspirational speaker and author. He was in Prague, Czech Republic as Patron of Lucie Kostelecká’s CD launch at the Tribute To Mama Africa held on the 15th of November, 2012. 

We were still nursing our hangovers and dance floor injuries from the previous night’s Tribute To Mama Africa. Hence the Miriam Makeba’s The Click Song befitted as the show opener.

Miriam Makeba played an important role in fighting apartheid in South Africa. The outspoken civil rights activist used her music to help dismantle the South African regime of the 1960s.

As Miriam Makeba gained international recognition, the government forced her into a 30 year exile. The Friday Ripple family paid special tribute to Miriam Makeba, who passed away on the 9th of November, 2008. We opened the show with Nomankanjani, made famous by South Africa’s Brenda Fassie who many called “The Queen Of African Pop.

Melanie Scholtz is a South African Jazz artist whose talent has created opportunities for her to perform in many European cities including Prague. On her most recent tour, she made time for a pre-recorded Friday Ripple Exclusive interview. As promised, we even presented Melanie Scholtz’s songs as part of an Afrojazz trans show.

We opened the show with Simply Falling from Nigerian contemporary female Jazz singer, Iyeoka. Based in the USA, with many talents, Iyeoka is also a full time poet.

Friday Ripple – Afrobailar Festival: Back To The Roots

The annual Afrobailar Multicultural Festival unique only to Prague, Czech Republic I around the corner. The colorful event will take place between the 1st and 4th of November, 2012. So we invited Rostislav Kryl known to the Friday Ripple Family as Dj Ross The Boss. He will give us exclusive information about the upcoming Afrobailar Festival.

The show with a tribute to South Africa’s first President, Nelson Mandela. The song Madiba is done by Ackim Simukonda, the late great Kalindula artist. He is fondly remembered by today’s generation for the song Bana Bandi. Ackim Simukonda sung the song to unity the many children he had with different women
